As well as being a writer, I play saxophone and piano as well as a bit of flute, clarinet, ukulele, melodica and guitar.

For the past ten years I have been providing bespoke saxophone lessons to students with or without the ability to read music, whatever their background, playing music of their choosing. My experience includes two years as a peripatetic music teacher across Amber Valley and South Derbyshire, coaching a student to play saxophone for a show (the trumpet part for Our House transposed for alto saxophone) and a student getting a distinction for ABRSM Grade 8. I have also been working in schools supporting Wider Opportunities sessions since September 2019.

I was a founder member of Equinox Music Ensemble and played second tenor and alto on their first recording, Partial Eclipse.

Genres I am familiar with include pop, rock, jazz, classical (as well as Baroque, Romantic, 20th Century). I have A-level music, ABRSM Grade 5 piano, ABRSM Grade 5 Theory and  DipABRSM (performance) in the saxophone. I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
